What companies need to understand is that data should underpin all activity. It should be viewed as the solid foundations to all marketing activity. In the current climate it is very foolish to continue with marketing activity which is driven by individual thoughts and ideas and instead focus on what can be learned from customer information.For this reason data and data analytics should sit heavily in the marketing budget. I am always surprised on the amount which is spent on creative when in fact this is all wasted if the activity is poorly targeted.
In B2B terms a highly targeted yet simple creative concept campaign will have far more success than a highly creative but blanket mailing campaign.
Not only will this approach cost less but it will also deliver greater ROI which is ultimately what all companies are looking for this year.
